What's the word?

Journal Entry: Sun May 31, 2009, 11:45 AM
I've been super busy for the past few months so I apologize for the lack of updates.

In January, I shared a table at the Phoenix Comicon and I printed up a few sketchbooks of the sketch-cards I did last year (I still have a few left if anyone wants to pick one up). The show was a bit slow in our area, so I had a chance to meet a ton of new peeps, some from dA, and catch-up with peeps like Cheeks and Jessica Hickman. Big thanks to those of you that stopped by to support us! See you at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con, I should have some sketchbooks with me if you come and see me there...

2009 Sketch-Card Sketchbook Vol. 1

This is my manga-sized sketchbook containing the sketch-cards I've done the past year for Upper Deck / Marvel. Most of the cards featured have never been posted publicly and all the artist proof cards have also been included. This is your chance to see my work up close and a great way for card collectors to view my cards.

The sketchbook is FREE with the purchase of a $20 full-color sketch-card with the character of your choice shipped to the US. Overseas pricing may vary. PayPal is preferred. Contact me if you're interested!

Here's a couple of my full-color sketch-card samples:

13x19 Prints of Thor Girl

This is a colab piece that we only sold prints of at the 2009 Phoenix Comicon. We only have a few prints left of this limited run. This 13x19 print is signed by the penciler (Thomas Tuomey) and myself (the colorist) and shipped in a clear 16x20 hard protective sleeve.

$25 shipped to the US. Overseas pricing may vary. PayPal is preferred. Contact me if you're interested!

SDCC 2008: Aftermath

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 16, 2008, 8:28 PM
I recently put some of the photos I took at SDCC 2008 online. My dA subscription was expired so I never posted a journal to let you all know...

Click on the photo below or follow this [link] to view my set on Flickr!

I tried to snap a shot of everyone I saw or met at the show. Next year I'm taking my camera. I thought my phone being light in weight was a good idea, but it took the worse pictures. It was impossible to get a good shot if I had a stranger take one of me with my peeps.

Overall, I had a great time at the show as well as the road trip with 1nch and TV2ME. We only went for two days and staying at the Marriott next door made it worth every penny. I can't wait to do it again next year... Enjoy the pics!

Congratulations Thomas!

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 1, 2008, 4:40 PM
I just heard that a winner was announced for the War Heroes Cover contest. My close friend Thomas Tuomey!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Both Thomas and I, along with two other artists, made it to the final round of voting. It was a long journey for us all, but well worth it. I learned a lot from this contest and met a few really good people. I personally saw Thomas design his piece from the ground up and I know how much time and heart he put into it, so I'm glad he was rewarded for his effort. Let's give the man a hand!

Follow this [link] for the official contest scoop from Wizard Universe.

On a side note, I happened to run into one of the other top four at SDCC, Jamie Tyndall. He and his wife are two very wonderful people. I enjoyed meeting them and having a chance to talk for a bit. I'm sure we will be keeping in touch.

Thanks for your votes and support!
-Frank
