CommentsDevious Commentsmr ~johnnyquest what up brother!!!!
okay first of thank you very much for taking the time into your critique i appreciate it... also if this is your first critique for me i like to respond with either comments or answers/questions to yours cause i feel that if someone is willing to take the time to give me input into a piece that i have done i owe them the time and respect back.... before i begin though i have to admit spawn is one of my favorites also. 1) in response to the green glow effect... me too its funny just how fast you grow with practice and is also one of the reasons that i don't go back and edit older pieces. darker green hmmm i will try i kinda was thinking maybe more highlighting around the edging maybe a brighter almost white... 2) highlights....well i am always afraid to add more cause when i first started everyone said i was doing too much to tone it down. but maybe since my skill has improved maybe i be better at adding in the right areas 3) i hear you on that ref... i am very intimidated by fire hehe though i guess if i was to get past that block i need to just do it though 4) texturing.... well when i first did this one i wasn't using any cause i really wasn't confirtable with using them but maybe it would help, i like the idea of the burnt edges of the grass 5) hmmm, you know that would be cool but i not really sure cause i always think of spawn as an dark side character with no good side...but a friend of mine did what you are talking about and it did look cool 6) haha that is why i did it that way cause i knew for a fact that ~johnnyquest would not do it that way hehe j/k you know i think i just got lazy when it came to that and it was at the end of the piece and i was very bored lol **slap to the forehead** 7) cape... you know i have been dieing to try it on just the right spawn piece but what do you think about some how putting some indication of skulls or spirits in the shadow areas.... couild be bad ass if done right anyways i getting the eye by the little woman so i have to cut this response short but thank you very much johnny talk to you soon late rich -- *****commissions open ***** --> message or note me <-- check out my gallery: ([link]) latest news: [link] |
1. I like the green glow reflections you got going this time (compared to [link]). Personally, I wouldnt erase his hand, maybe just make it a darker green?
2. I know I've said this one before... Highlights! Add another blank layer, use white, go to town!
3. I know this isnt a Duo with Cheeks' "Kuta" in Bastion land... (for those that arent familiar with that ref, floating islands is what I'm referring to). Get some flames up under there, after-all, the sign says "HELL". Lots of cool fire brushes you can use. Fire is bright, dont forget to reflect properly.
4. I would add a lot more texturing in the dirt and grass... maybe even burn the grass towards the edges. Less green.
5. I'd add more to the background, possibly fade it up to a sky blue at the top or maybe something to imply it was heaven... lights etc.
6. Light house... er... I mean, street lamp...
7. His cape, highlights for sure, but maybe even experiment with some texturing, or as many would say... dirty it up a bit.
I hope this helps. I'd love to see you finish this, Spawn is one of my all time favs!
